Originally from Edmonton, she is currently completing her Bachelor of Fine Arts at the University of Manitoba after graduating from Red Deer Polytechnic. Abigail’s love for clay began when she was a child, making tiny creations out of polymer clay. What started as a childhood hobby has grown into a dedicated ceramics practice. Today, she creates a wide range of work, from whimsical miniature figures to functional pottery made for everyday use. Working under the name Abi Ceramics, Abigail has built a community of collectors who are drawn to her playful and handmade work. Her ceramics are inspired by childhood memories, gardens, animals, and the beauty found in the natural world. She enjoys capturing small, familiar moments and turning them into pieces that bring a sense of joy and nostalgia. Abigail’s work explores the space between art and function. She loves experimenting with new techniques, shapes, and ideas while finding ways to make each piece feel personal and meaningful. Whether she is creating a tiny sculptural keepsake or a mug meant to become part of someone’s daily routine, she wants her work to feel comforting, playful, and full of heart. At the center of Abigail’s practice is a simple goal: to create objects that encourage people to slow down, appreciate the little things, and find joy in everyday life.\u003cbr\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eMy work is inspired by the playful, gentle, and meaningful moments that stay with us over time. I often think back to my childhood, especially the time I spent in my great uncle’s garden. Filled with all the bugs, blooming flowers, and small discoveries, the garden sparked my curiosity and shaped the way I see and appreciate nature. I create ceramic miniatures and functional pottery that celebrate the beauty of small things. My work ranges from cheerful animal figures and tiny sculptures to mugs and other objects made for everyday use. Each piece is created to bring a sense of joy, comfort, or nostalgia into people’s lives. Working with clay helps me slow down and stay connected to the earth. I enjoy the process of making by hand and allowing small imperfections to become part of each piece. Clay gives me the freedom to experiment, play, and turn simple ideas and memories into something people can hold and enjoy. At the heart of my practice is a desire to help people reconnect with nature, memories, and their sense of play. I believe there is something special about small, imperfect, and everyday things. They can hold memories, create comfort, and remind us to appreciate the world around us. Through my work, I hope to encourage people to pause and notice the little moments that often go unnoticed.
