This piece is part of the exhibition Innovative Threads: Contemporary Weaving on at the Alberta Craft Gallery - Calgary from January 25 to April 12, 2025.
"I work with found objects, napkins, hankies, bandanas, books, and linen. I bring all these objects to the loom and weave and reweave them over and over again. By employing traditional textile techniques in reconstructing these domestic objects, I can contemplate versions of a queer home, the transformative potential of care and affection, and the neverending practice of identity construction. The objects submitted are examples of contemporary weaving, not solely because of the time of their creation but because they reach backwards and forwards in time. By working in collaboration with domestic objects that have acted as family members I get to time travel back to when the objects were initially created and look forward to a vision of the future that wonders how many times we can come apart and back together again, and still be a version of original self."
