"My art practice is sustainable. It is an endless cycle of transformation. I work with recycled plastic and textiles. “Nothing is really lost, nothing is created, everything is transformed”, said Lavoisier in the 18th century.
I have a very diversified art practice in sustainable sculpture. In my most recent work, I am observing the nervous system. I created a large circular embroidery on recycled plastic that can be suspended in windows or on a wall and backlit. I am interested in the relationship with ecoanxiety. I work with repurposed synthetic fabric and plastic. Using my experience in welding, I make recycled wire-welded structure on which fabric or plastic can be attached.
In the last few years, embroidery has captivated me. Depending on the thickness of the plastic, I either drill holes before stitching or hand stitching. From recycled plastic plant pots to plastic food containers, I create flat folding forms that can become light sculptures, wind activated sculptural installation or wall pieces. "Gratitude" is the functional version of a project that started during the pandemic. During that time, I transformed all my fabric remnants into ribbons that I wove on sections of plastic snow fence material. These sections could at times wrap around trees or stand as cylinders on the land with light inside. Several installations and community workshops were born after the original series was made."
