Brett Boyd

Brett has worked on and off with textile for years making jackets and costumes for his photography practice, but has recently moved into making wall-hanging textile pieces. Starting with large scale
exhibition pieces, Brett began working in a smaller scale, and bringing both his design degree and experience as a photographer into his work, informing his compositions, concepts, and colour usage. His retail pieces focus on contemporary aesthetics, and often have a sense of humor about them, aiming to bring a whimsical flair to your home that ranges from a subtle wink to a blatant display of sarcasm (or wit, depending).

Brett is interested in exploring the versatility of fabrics and textiles, from how they are made, how they can be manipulated and modified, and how they break down. This leads to a blending of fiber techniques that allow for plenty of room to grow and develop one-of-a-kind textural pieces. It also brings in Brett's Culinary Arts background, working with from Tip-to-Tail, and not letting anything get wasted.
