Statement: Trace of Becoming reflects a conscious yet playful return to making — a rekindling of my art/jewellery practice as I learn to be a mother and navigate a journey of healing and acceptance. Much like parenthood, my ideal process is rooted in passed-on knowledge, increasingly shaped by instinct and trust. The handmade mark, the hammer’s strike, the unrepeatable form — each trace becomes both a decision and a memory: an echo of touch, of care, of intention, and of the quiet hope that I might get it right.

Bio: Victoria Sanchez is a jeweller, visual artist, and arts administrator currently based in Treaty 7 land — Calgary. A jeweller by training (ACAD 2012), Victoria likes to explore the intent of personal adornment, spontaneity and adaptation, and most importantly, making with intention and the evidence of human touch.
