Jessica Moyer is a writer, textile artist and quilter originally from Cambridge, Ontario, now living in Edmonton. She first became interested in quilting as a young girl sitting on her Grammie’s lap while she sewed. Now, with a background in Interior Design, Jessica creates quilted pieces that become a part of your everyday living space. Using traditional quilt blocks as the base of her designs, she plays with colour, texture and pattern to bring a contemporary slant to her work. Jessica works from her home studio, using both a sewing machine and hand stitching to bring her work to life.

With my background in Interior Design, I design my quilted pieces around the feeling of home. After living a busy lifestyle downtown Toronto for ten years, it’s been nice to slow down in Edmonton. When I started sewing in 2021, I thought I would never sew anything by hand; now it’s an integral part of my work. You’ll
still see a lot of machine piecing/quilting in my work, but I like mixing contrasting ideas such as using both new and old fabrics, traditional quilt blocks and improv work, and geometric forms with the organic.
