Kat MacLean

Kat MacLean is a Calgary-based jewellery designer whose career has been diversely shaped within the world of fine jewellery. From metalsmithing and stone cutting to earning the title Graduate Gemologist
from the Gemological Institute of America, her practice is grounded in both technical expertise and artistic exploration.

Driven by a passion for wearable art, Kat earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts with a major in Metalsmithing and Jewellery at the Alberta University of the Arts. After completing her degree, she trained as a goldsmith before transitioning into full-time jewellery design.

Kat's dedication extends beyond the studio. She is committed to fostering a vibrant jewellery community through mentorship, educational initiatives, and active community involvement, sharing her knowledge and passion with emerging makers and enthusiasts alike.

Jewellery making is more than a profession for Kat, it is a lifelong practice. Guided by curiosity, craftsmanship, and a deep appreciation for the stories jewellery can tell, she continues to evolve as both an artist and maker.
