Kt Furness

Kt Furness (Calgary, AB) is a potter and fibre artist who uses their experience in garmentry to inform how they approach making ceramics. By using darts, and flat pattern drafting to alter wheel thrown forms, they create voluptuous functional pots reminiscent of the natural form of the body. Soft slab and hollow construction adds playful and fabric-like shapes to handles, spouts, and other attachments. Their surfaces mimic the shapes painted by the flame in atmospheric firing, recreated with colourful and multi-textured glazes. Kt holds a BFA in Ceramics from ACAD, and a certificate in Costume Cutting and Construction from RDC, and currently lives and makes work in Calgary, Alberta.
