Vanessa Willms-Wong

In April 2025 Vanessa was part of the spring Artist in Residency Sponsorship Program through Fuse33 Makerspace and International Avenue Arts and Culture Community (IAACC) and was later chosen to be the Resident Artist at IAACC. In the summer of 2025, she received a grant from the Canada Council for the Arts to partake in natural dye courses through Vancouver based MAIWA School of Textiles. In 2025 and 2026 she received grants from Calgary Arts Development towards her ceramics and basket weaving studies. Additionally in 2026 Vanessa received the Stanford Perrott Award to provide free public art workshops.

In spring of 2026, Vanessa partnered with local artists Thea Galang and Nicholas Gunhouse to create a sound-based installation at the Lougheed House which is now part of the permanent collection.
Additionally this spring, her artwork was also accepted for a Bunch of Guide publication and has been printed and sold in bookstores internationally. In 2025 she enrolled as a fine arts student at Alberta
