線香立 Senko-tate
Minoru is a Japanese architect who grew up in Tokyo and now divides his time between Calgary and Japan. Minoru started his carrier in seismic engineering research, then structural engineering and finally sustainable architecture. In Japan he practices, teaches and consults on sustainable architecture. In Canada he makes art and volunteers for art communities. He has always been interested in the visual arts, living in Calgary has given him the time and place to practice art
Minoru studied the Japanese tea ceremony for several years. After moving to Canada he has taken courses in sculpture and ceramics at ACAD, North Mount Pleasant Art Center and printmaking at KOAC. He is a member of the Leighton Art Centre and Fairview Pottery Studios. In 2024 he won an artist residency at Workshop Studios and remains an honorary member.
In Japan Minoru works out of several pottery studios including Yuzan Gama, Hibiki Studio, Ebisu Cultural Center and Naka Klin. He is a member of the Kobuchizawa Pottery Club
