ENVIRON brings together artists who approach materials as more than substances to shape. Clay, fibre, metal, and found matter carry histories of extraction, labour, ecology, and care. Through processes of making, these materials reveal the systems they move through and the environments they help to construct.
Across the exhibition, works trace connections between geological time and industrial production, between ecological change and lived experience. Some artists work directly with materials drawn from specific sites, while others transform industrial or everyday objects to expose the systems embedded within them. Together, these practices show how making is a form of inquiry—one that makes visible the relationships between land, resource, body, and memory.
ENVIRON considers how materials do not simply represent environment but actively participate in shaping it.
